1961 Austin Mini Cooper Mk1 997cc (bodyshell)

Bodyshell restoration

The following pictures show some details of the excellent restoration work done on the bodyshell. Most of the used new panels were bought from "M-Machine", but some had to be fully fabricated and hand molded by Mr. Sampaio, such as the ones used for doors restoration.

After been restored the doors were fitted to the bodyshell and then the hard work started by the replacement of the floor and the sills.

The next step was fitting new panels for wings and front, and then adjust the right clearances for the bonnet.

The rear of the car was the next step, where the original boot lid tooked much of the attention, as we decided to restore it and thus we could kept the original.

Finally, in December of 2017 the bodyshell was ready to go to the paint shop.
Well done Mr. Sampaio!

During May of 2018 the paint shop work was done and the bodyshell was painted and ready to start building up.

Time to build up the car. Let's do it!
